How often it is in lesser things we fail.
AVAILABLE ON AMAZON:
In order to fully appreciate that I ask you to put the accent on one hour. Had He asked them to watch through the livelong night with Him, that might have been a high and arduous service. But to ask their vigilance for sixty minutes surely was a very small demand, yet it was there that the disciples failed. In the last great service Peter did not fail Him, for Peter was crucified for Christ.
James, too, laid down his life for Him, and John went to exile in the Isle of Patmos. Where they all failed was in the lesser thing, in the duty that was comparatively small—what, could ye not watch with Me one hour?
And perhaps it is there most often that we fail in our loving companionship with Christ.

Perhaps it is there that love most often fails. In our fellowship with the Lord Jesus we may be ready and eager for the greatest sacrifice, and yet we cannot watch with Him one hour. In those infinitesimal self-denials which are possible with every passing day, in patience and appreciative sympathy within the shelter and secrecy of home, in the rendering of those little kindnesses which are more to many hearts than gold or silver, how often we fail as those disciples did.
Great services reveal our possibilities; little services reveal our consecration.

Jesus places the emphasis of heaven on him who is faithful in the least. Had these disciples watched for that one hour they would have rendered a service far beyond their dreams. That is true of everyone of us. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly. Is salvation a favor- or just pure grace.
Honor- I'm pretty sure heaven is pure glory. I'm sorry, I see no reason for the English Standard Version to change these two words, if the only purpose was to make a translation more readable why would they change it. Perhaps the words grace and glory are too archaic. Just the other day a fellow came up to me and said "Can you bestow me a ride to the store" just kidding. From the different Christian writers I have read the 17th and 18th century writers were more spiritual and smarter than most of the modern ones.
I am not one of the- if you don't use the King James, you can't be saved- people, but those who translate different English versions should say that they believe the King James Version is not the English version written by inspiration from God, instead they claim a more readable version. I think it undermines more than the thees and thous people seem to have trouble with.

Generally people who are full of self will always find a reason not to read the bible or claim they can't understand it, because the bible is all about selflessness. Perhaps there needs to be a version that is less about self sacrifice so more people would read it. They could call it the VI version innate and also represent 6 the number of man.
Personally I prefer grace and glory over favor and honor and will give over bestows. I was reminded today how important our prayer life is, admittedly I have been fainting. Funny how I can find time for everything that is important to me, but prayer is work and requires my absolute attention, therefore I seem to find reasons to put it off, then at the end of the day I'm too tired, so I just say a few mindless things and go to sleep.
God has a way of getting my attention and today was one of them-. But there is one thing that we shall not regret even on the margin of the grave, and that is the time we gave to prayer.
James 5:16: ‘The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much’
Then it will be far more real to us than it was in the hour when we were praying. Then it will be far more real to us than things that once were of supreme importance. Then we shall wonder at our inveterate folly in having toiled and served and labored for the Master, and been so forgetful of the amazing promises that He has given to everyone who prays. My brother and sister, anticipate that hour.
It is coming swiftly and it is coming surely. Live today as you would like to have lived when you look back from the end upon it all. And remember that whatever Christ hath taught you, by precept, by example, He hath taught you this, that men ought always to pray and not to faint". As a young man I wanted everything everything that is of what this world had to offer.

Father, surely You don't want me to miss out, right? Therefore I indulged heavily, knowing it was wrong. Through the years of insisting on everything, I got nothing, but by His Enduring Mercy and the prayers of the people who loved me.
I came to myself made my way home to the Father insisting on nothing, He gave me everything- Peace, joy, contentment and a Savior's love that is immeasurable. All the time wasted insisting on everything, while He was waiting with His Hand reaching to give it. Isa Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
God's storehouse is unending, the abundance of supply is unfathomable, whatever the need might be, but to who much is given, much is required. We cannot expect anything from God if we reach into His storehouse to satisfy our own selfish desires, we must learn to take and give.
If we endeavour to take with no plan or intention of giving, we shall find that our hand falls paralysed by our side.
The faithless servant who received the talent, and buried it for his own use, when needed, forfeited it. As a sound may dislodge an avalanche, so the prayer of faith sets in motion the power of God. While some have to the ability to sing like angels, orate great sermons, be great leaders, exhibit unending mercy and many more.
But for the most part, we hold no great awe inspiring ability, but God in His infinite wisdom, has given us all one. The ability to perform the lowest deed with our whole heart in faithfulness to Christ our Redeemer.
What ever life throws at us, we can remain faithful, some of the greatest contributors to the Kingdom were simple faithful men and women. For example, Carey was a shoemaker, Bunyan a traveling tinker, a guy only known as Beta took George Mueller to Church, a Sunday school teacher named Edward Kimball won a shoe store clerk to Jesus—his name was D.
However insignificant our lives seem in this world, the results can be mighty in His Kingdom. This weekend I had the privilege to spend some time with my neighbors 14 year old grandson. He is a very helpful and well mannered young man. He was holding the light for me and offering his opinions of what was wrong while I worked on a mower.
I couldn't help but notice he had a Samsung Galaxy 3- not the newest and best but nice. During our time together I learned that his parents were divorced and that the phone was given to him by his mom. While conversing about life in general, I asked if he knew Jesus, his reply was "yes, I'm a Christian" so I asked, what does that mean?
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Skip to Main Content.

No creature other than man places value on beauty. God the Creator of beauty and man created in His likeness have the ability to see beauty. Even after man brought this world into a fallen state, the majesty and beauty of it is breathtaking. Each season, with separate distinct beauty, small distances apart new terrain displays more beauty.
Examine the clouds, ever changing, a new canvas more beautiful than the last. A simple snowflake, each adorned in splendid grandeur. Acts of kindness by a stranger, a child's glee- it's overwhelming, how gracious our Lord and Creator. Beauty lies everywhere and in everything He created.
Ecc He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. Take time and study the beauty of this world and in it you will see God, and with an unsolicited act of kindness, someone will see Him in you. Faith is the victory that overcomes the world. Faith finds the soul of goodness in things evil. Faith is one great secret of endurance Eph Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Not only is God patient because He is eternal, but He is patient because He loves. He bears with and pardons us a thousand times, and endures our folly and our shames, just because His love endureth all things 1 Corinthians Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
