A course designed specifically for non-science majors who wish to obtain a basic understanding of chemistry as applied in the world today. Does not serve as a prerequisite for any other chemistry course.
Includes laboratory. Measurement, ionic and covalent compounds, chemical calculations, states of matter; energy, solutions, reactions, chemical bonding. Introductory Chemistry Laboratory.
Introduction to Organic and Biochemistry. Does not satisfy the prerequisite for any advanced chemistry course. A second semester of general chemistry with emphasis on organic and biochemistry.
Includes alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, aromatics, alcohol, phenols, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, esters, amines, amides, carbohydrates, lipids, amino acids, proteins, and nucleic acids.
